A searchable index of real negative results, null findings, and replication failures from the published literature — so you can learn what didn't work before repeating it.

WASTE indexes published research — it does not host or republish full papers. Each entry is a metadata record (title, authors, DOI) compiled from open scholarly databases, with the abstract shown in full only where the paper is openly licensed (e.g. Creative Commons); otherwise a short excerpt is shown for reference under fair use. WASTE classifies each work by failure type; classifications are automated and approximate.

Comparison short time discharge with long time discharge following uncomplicated percutaneous coronary intervention for Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction patients

Guozhong Wang, Quanming Zhao, Qing Cheng et al. · 2019 · BMC Cardiovascular Disorders

Abstract Background The rational length of stay following non-complicated percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients remains controversial. Few studies have examined the impact of early discharge on short-term outcomes in NSTEMI patients, but short-time discharge is not uncommon in real world practice. This study examined the impact of short time discharge following non-complicated PCI on 30-day net adverse clinical events in NSTEMI patients. Methods This retrospective study enrolled 1424 consecutive patients with NSTEMI diagnoses who

Effects of Colchicine on Populus canescens Ectexine Structure and 2n Pollen Production

Qing Zhou, Qing Zhou, Qing Zhou et al. · 2020 · Frontiers in Plant Science

Triploid breeding is a central way to improve growth traits, timber quality, and stress resistance in Populus. In the present study, the morphology and viability of colchicine-induced 2n pollen, triploid production by crossing induced 2n pollen, and identification of genetic constitution of colchicine-induced 2n pollen were conducted in Populus canescens based on optimizing technology for inducing chromosome doubling in pollen. We found that the meiotic stage, injection time, and the interaction between the meiotic stage and injection time had highly significant effects on the 2n pollen produc

Intermittent sprinkler irrigation during the establishment of strawberry (Fragaria ×ananassa Duch.) bare-root transplants conserves water without loss of yield and fruit quality

Junaid Mushtaq Lone, Shinsuke Agehara, Amr Abd-Elrahman · 2024 · Agricultural Water Management

Commercial strawberry (Fragaria ×ananassa Duch.) production in Florida relies heavily on bare-root transplants, which typically have 3–5 leaves with partially desiccated roots. Successful establishment requires sprinkler irrigation during daylight hours for the first 10–14 days, leading to substantial water consumption. To address this issue, we evaluated the efficacy of intermittent sprinkler irrigation as a water conservation strategy. We conducted field experiments over two growing seasons [Season 1 (2021–22) and Season 2 (2022–23)] in west-central Florida using three major strawberry culti

Elastic-stable intramedullary nailing for radial neck fractures in children: clinical and radiological outcomes and risks for poor prognosis

Michał Maciejewski, Piotr Janusz, Michalina Dudkiewicz et al. · 2023 · Chirurgia Narządów Ruchu i Ortopedia Polska

Introduction. Radial neck fractures in children are rare and account for 1-3% of all childhood trauma. Severe displacement of the fracture can lead to a higher incidence of complications, such as limited range of motion (ROM), pain, instability, neurovascular trauma, premature physeal closure, cubitus valgus, radial head overgrowth, avascular necrosis and improper ossification. The treatment outcome depends on the injury type, treatment method and presence of complications.Aim. Mona Makita, Shinichi Kawamoto, Momoko Nagai-Tanima et al. · 2025 · Biomedical Engineering Advances

The ground reaction force (GRF) waveform during countermovement jumps (CMJs) is considered to reflect neuromuscular coordination strategies; yet the biomechanical mechanisms distinguishing unimodal from bimodal patterns remain unclear. This study investigated the influence of countermovement depth and velocity on GRF waveform shape and examined their relationship with joint moments and work. Twenty-six healthy young women (age: 22.1 ± 1.1 years; height: 160.8 ± 4.0 cm; body weight: 53.5 ± 5.6 kg) performed CMJs, and GRF waveforms were categorised as unimodal and bimodal patterns. Objectives: Opioids are commonly prescribed for pain management following Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair (ARCR). While their efficacy outweighs their risks in the short term, chronic opioid use is associated with significant adverse effects, such as dependence, endocrine imbalance or respiratory depression. The rate of chronic opioid use and dependence following ARCR is unknown. The purpose of this study is to determine the rate of chronic opioid use following ARCR and establish the effect of preoperative opioid education on reducing chronic consumption.
