Failure-mode index

Search what already failed

A searchable index of real negative results, null findings, and replication failures from the published literature — so you can learn what didn't work before repeating it.

WASTE indexes published research — it does not host or republish full papers. Each entry is a metadata record (title, authors, DOI) compiled from open scholarly databases, with the abstract shown in full only where the paper is openly licensed (e.g. Creative Commons); otherwise a short excerpt is shown for reference under fair use. WASTE classifies each work by failure type; classifications are automated and approximate.

Soy protein and iron-fortified artificial rice from composite flour for functional food diversification

Sumardiono Siswo, Meganingtyas Wahyudita, Cahyono Heri · 2025 · E3S Web of Conferences

Artificial rice is one of the food diversification efforts that can be made from non-rice foodstuffs to reduce dependence on rice. In this study, artificial rice was made from a composite flour as raw material composed of modified cassava flour (mocaf) (Manihot esculenta), sago flour (Metroxylon sago Rottb), yellow pumpkin flour (Cucurbita moschata L.), and soybean flour (Glycine max) in different formula ratios. Artificial rice was produced using the extrusion method at temperatures of 70, 80, and 90°C. In this study, the artificial rice was analyzed for chemical and physical properties (wate

Introduction The age at the onset of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) can influence the trajectory of the disease. We aimed to clarify how age at the visit 6 months after the onset as a continuous variable affects long-term remission of JIA.Methods This study investigated 358 patients from the Nordic JIA cohort study. Age at diagnosis was analysed continuously. Three age groups were studied: under 3 years, 3–5 years and over 6 years of age. JIA was categorised as oligoarthritis, seronegative polyarthritis and others (enthesitis-related, psoriatic and undifferentiated arthritis). Clinical da

Optimization of Non-dairy Dessert Formulation based on Almond Milk Containing Tragacanth Gum and Stevia Sweetener

Fariba Hadidi, Ali Ganjloo, Mohammad Hadi Fakoor · 2023 · مجله پژوهش‌های علوم و صنایع غذایی ایران

Introduction The demand for non-dairy and reduced-calorie products has increased substantially for several reasons. Almond (Prunus dulcis) milk is highly appreciated by lactose-intolerant, hypertensive people and celiac patients whom are not able to consume animal's milk. Thus, the development of various non-dairy products is essential. Desserts are the most common and popular product containing high amount of fat and sucrose. The consumption of sucrose is restricted for diabetic people due to its high glycemic index. Stevia as a low-calorie sweetener is one of the sucrose substitutes in food

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of capital gain plans on return cumulative and buy (sell) pressure on the days around assembly. In this study, capital gain means shareholders benefit from receivables financing (stock rights) and conversion of retained earnings into new shares (profit share) for fixed investment and development. According to the price pressure hypothesis, issuance of new shares leads to an increase in supply and accordingly, the stock returns and trading volume are affected. 100 companies which over the years from 2003 to 2014 have increased their capital

In vitro evaluation of the effect of galectins on Schistosoma mansoni motility

Tomoharu Takeuchi, Risa Nakamura, Megumi Hamasaki et al. · 2023 · BMC Research Notes

Abstract Objective Galectins are sugar-binding proteins that participate in many biological processes, such as immunity, by regulating host immune cells and their direct interaction with pathogens. They are involved in mediating infection by Schistosoma mansoni, a parasitic trematode that causes schistosomiasis. However, their direct effects on schistosomes have not been investigated. Results We found that galectin-2 recognizes S. mansoni glycoconjugates and investigated whether galectin-1, 2, and 3 can directly affect S. mansoni in vitro. Adult S. mansoni were treated with recombinant galecti

Thin individuals might manifest a double chin, similar to those who are afflicted by obesity. It may result in a reduction in the definition of the mandible and give the perception of obesity or aging. AIM. To evaluate any effect of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) on sleep quality measures in obese women with a double chin. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Twelve healthy, physically active men (mean±SD: age 22.33±1.44 years, V'O2peak 3198±458 mL ∙ min-1) performed an endurance training composed mainly of moderate-intensity cycling, lasting 20 weeks. Training resulted in a decrease (by ~5%, P = 0.027) in V'O2 during prior low-intensity exercise (20 W) and in shortening of τp of the V'O2 on-kinetics (30.1±5.9 s vs. 25.4±1.5

Nanocomposites based on poly(styrene- block -isobutylene- block -styrene) (SIBS) and single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were prepared and characterized in terms of tensile strength as well as bio- and hemocompatibility. It was shown that modification of CNTs using dodecylamine (DDA), featured by a long non-polar alkane chain, provided much better dispersion of nanotubes in SIBS as compared to unmodified CNTs. As a result of such modification, the tensile strength of the nanocomposite based on SIBS with low molecular weight (M n = 40,000 g mol –1 ) containing 4% of functionalized CNTs was in

Synthesis of pure and palladium doped TiO2 and their applications as modifiers for carbon paste electrode

Mohamed Rashed, Asmaa Khodari · 2022 · Aswan University Journal of Environmental Studies

TiO2 was synthesized from titanium tetraisopropoxide in the presence of H2O and H2O2 to form TiO2(H2O) and TiO2(H2O2) respectively. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) was utilized to investigate the thermal stability and select proper calcination temperatures of the solid powders used to prepare the oxides. Accordingly, TiO2 was obtained by calcination at 550 and 750°C. These oxides were characterized by TEM, XRD, FTIR, XRF and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Results showed that TiO2(H2O2) is more thermally stable than TiO2(H2O) and its nanoparticles are smaller. TiO2(H2O2)(550) was doped with palladium t
