The effectiveness of pituitary extract from Crucian carp (Carassius auratus Linnaes 1758) in inducing ovulation in Veil Tail Gold Fish (Carassius auratus gibelio Bloch 1783), was examined and the effect of maternal hormone treatment on egg quality in two types of fertilization (fertilization in aquarium and artificial fertilization), were evaluated in 22·c temperature. Fish were injected intrapritoneally with three doses of, 2, 3 and 4mg/kg B.W pituitary extract (PE). With increasing of pituitary dose, practical fecundity also increased from 1775 in control fish to 3201 in fish with 4mg/kg B.W

Background/Objectives: With growing waves of migration, children speaking a home language different from the language of school literacy have become increasingly common in Western education systems. In this context, understanding and monitoring bilinguals’ reading development is crucial to inform both educational and clinical practices and ensure equitable services. The present study contributes to the literature by investigating learning patterns in single-word reading across primary school grades. Monolingual and bilingual children learning to read in an alphabetic orthography were examined.

In the past decades, extreme precipitation and drought have increased in both intensity and frequency in global drylands, threatening the sustainability of agricultural systems. To address this challenge, this study refined the process-oriented STEMMUS (simultaneous transfer of energy, mass, and momentum in unsaturated soil) model by introducing a dynamic leaf area index (LAI) development sub-module, and defined scenarios incorporating variations in precipitation amount, precipitation intensity, and temperature. These scenarios elucidate the response patterns of shallow and deep soil moisture

Background: Sufentanil added to intrathecal bupivacaine for cesarean section has shown to improve intraoperative and postoperative analgesia with no adverse effects on the mother and neonate. We compared the effects of intrathecal sufentanil 5 mcg and placebo when administered with hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% 11 mg for cesarean section. Patients and Methods: Sixty parturients of ASA grading I and II of age between 18 to 45 years scheduled for elective cesarean section under subarachnoid block were randomly allocated into one of the two groups to receive 5μg sufentanil + 0.2ml sterile, preserva

Abstract Purpose The primary aim was to evaluate the functional impact of adding lateral extra‐articular tenodesis (LET) to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR). The secondary aim was to assess whether LET provides benefits in muscle strength, patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) and return to sport (RTS) pass rate, as well as to examine the influence of meniscal injury on performance in ACLR patients. Methods A retrospective cohort of prospectively collected data on all ACL procedures was performed at AZ Delta Roeselare between 2017 and 2019. The patients followed a

Rural communities have become a hot topic in academic circles because of their graceful natural environment and great healing potential. However, existing research still lacks attention to the street space in rural communities and rarely considers its integrated visual and soundscape design in terms of their effect on public health. As a result, the healing potential of rural community streets cannot be fully used in design practice. Relevant audiovisual materials were collected from a field investigation in four rural communities in southwestern China. Based on these data, the subjective and

Attention contains three functional network subcomponents of alerting, orienting, and executive control. The attention network test (ANT) is usually used to measure the efficiency of three attention subcomponents. Previous researches have focused on examining the unimodal attention with visual or auditory ANT paradigms. However, it is still unclear how an auditory stimulus influences the visual attention networks. This study investigated the effects of bilateral auditory stimuli (Experiment 1) and ipsilateral auditory stimulus (Experiment 2) on the visual attention subcomponents. We employed a

The slaughter of pregnant sows remains a relevant concern in modern swine production, with prevalence rates reported from 1.5–13% in Europe. Considering fetal sensitivity during late gestation and legal restrictions on transport and slaughter, reliable assessment of fetal age is of considerable practical, ethical, and legal relevance. In this study, 70 pregnancies from low-prolificacy (purebred German Saddleback) and medium-to-high prolificacy genotypes (purebred German Landrace and Duroc × German Landrace hybrids) were repeatedly examined using transabdominal ultrasonography, with a total of

ABSTRACTThe present study discusses the frictional behaviour of porous recycled rubber used for a wide variety of architectural applications as flooring tiles. This type of flooring tiles, of the relatively high resilience, are used in schools, boutiques, hospitals, offices, conference rooms, homes, trade fair stands and homes for the aged. Experiments were carried out by the sliding of the bare foot and rubber footwear against the tested rubber tiles of different porosity, where friction coefficient was tested. A test rig was designed and manufactured for the test. Loads were applied by foot

Abstract In recent years, COVID-19 policy measures massively affected university teaching. Seeking an effective and viable way to transform their lecture material into asynchronous online settings, many lecturers relied on prerecorded video lectures. Whereas researchers in fact recommend implementing prompts to ensure students process those video lectures sufficiently, open questions about the types of prompts and role of students’ engagement remain. We thus conducted an online field experiment with teacher students at a German university (N = 124; 73 female, 49 male). According to the randoml

Abstract Background Inferior subluxation of the humeral head is frequently observed immediately after surgery for proximal humerus fractures; however, the incidence and risk factors of inferior subluxation after osteosynthesis for isolated greater tuberosity fractures remain unsolved. Additionally, the postoperative course of inferior subluxation has not been elucidated. The purpose of the present study is to identify the predictors for the occurrence of postoperative inferior subluxation by multivariate analysis and investigate the postoperative shift of inferior subluxation and its effect on

Summary: Related to ABI3/VP1 (RAV) transcription factors have important roles in plant stress responses; however, it is unclear whether RAVs regulates oxidative stress response in cassava (Manihot esculenta). In this study, we report that MeRAV1/2 positively regulate oxidative stress resistance and catalase (CAT) activity in cassava. Consistently, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) identifies three MeCATs that are differentially expressed in MeRAV1/2-silenced cassava leaves. Interestingly, MeCAT6 and MeCAT7 are identified as direct transcriptional targets of MeRAV1/2 via binding to their promoters. In a

Small-medium enterprises (SMEs) are the main pillar of the Indonesian economy. Based on 2016’s Economic Census, most businesses in Indonesia are SMEs, while SMEs absorb the majority of the workforce. The empowerment of SMEs is one way to improve the economy. To empower the SMEs sector, the Indonesian government launched the Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) since 2007. The lasts policy is the provision of the mild interest rate for KUR since 2016. The hope is that with a mild interest rate, SMEs can get affordable financing access so they can be the driving force of the economy. However, credit demand

To clarify the regulatory mechanism of NLA on tomato plant architecture and fruit quality, wild-type (WT), nla mutant (narrow leaf angle), and NLA overexpression lines (OE1, OE2) were used as materials, and the study was carried out through genetic analysis, phenotypic and quality determination, and gene expression analysis. The results showed that the tomato leaf angle is controlled by a single gene with semi-dominant inheritance. The nla mutant forms a compact plant architecture due to reduced cell volume at the leaf angle. During vegetative growth, it exhibited significantly increased plant
