Abstract

Aim: Remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) has been used as a strategy to reduce acute renal injury and ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in renal transplantation (RT) with controversial results. Objective: To determine if RIPC modifies IRI in cadaveric RT recipients through inflammatory mediators and graft function. Methods: Twenty-nine RT recipients were studied, 12 in the control group (CG) and 17 in the RIPC group.
